2018 is off to a busy start at Adoptions of Indiana! We have been lucky enough to be a part of the start of three adoption journeys already. With each new start, we are reminded of the unique and precious nature of each adoption story. While they are not without grief, pain, and challenge, it is beautiful to see birth and adoptive parents unite to put the child at the center of their decision-making.
Opportunities for Kids & Adolescents
Adoption Connection Club
A new year also reminds us that time moves on, babies grow up, and adoption journeys evolve. Because of this reality, Adoptions of Indiana has created a program call Adoption Connection Club to provide much needed tools and support to adoptees ages 7-11. At this critical age many children are coming to a new understanding of their own adoption story. There is even the very real possibility of being questioned about it by friends, classmates, teachers and strangers. Every child deserves to feel equipped with practical ways to respond to these uncomfortable moments. Further, they deserve to know they are not alone.
If you are currently parenting a child in this age group – please consider registering them for this program. Offered for a 4-week period, children will participate in conversation and collaboration that enriches their understanding of what it means to be an adoptee.
