Chelsea and Sarah

Welcome to our story; we hope we become part of yours! We’re Chelsea and Sarah with our playful loving dogs, Leroy and Donna, and three chickens, Betty, Snow White, and Buttercup. We are adventure-loving women who met through our shared passion for swimming and bonded over our love for life. Chelsea is an outgoing, creative artist who loves to paint and owns a video and photo production company that she has been nurturing for 20 years. Sarah is a real estate broker who enjoys helping people find their forever homes and works for the brokerage her mom started two decades ago. We’ve been best friends for years, married for three, and we’re always up for discovering something new — whether it’s a hidden hiking trail, a new recipe, or fun family gatherings. Life is never boring in our house, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are very grateful for the opportunity to share our deep love in creating this little one’s story.

Chelsea and Sarah were both born and raised in Indiana and are an adventurous, optimistic, and goal-oriented couple. We first briefly met in passing during a swim practice in 2010, and then later reconnected in 2016 when Chelsea asked Sarah if the nonprofit she was running could use a media sponsor through Chelsea’s company. Sarah quickly said “absolutely!” During that business meeting, we realized our mutual love for swimming and triathlons — both of us swam on scholarships in college — and soon we began training with each other as friends. We quickly became best friends, then started dating, and said “I do” in 2021 surrounded by 75 of our family members and closest friends in Lake Tahoe, California. We are both small-business owners. Chelsea owns a video and photo production company and Sarah is a real estate broker. We have loved our lives together over the past seven years, filled with lots of travel all over the globe, taking simple hikes with our dogs on our neighborhood trail, hosting dinner parties with our friends, building successful businesses, and we are so excited and ready to open our hearts and home and grow our family with you. Together, we create a harmonious blend of adventure and stability, and we never stop learning from each other. Our shared values — honesty, kindness, and a deep commitment to family — are the foundation of our relationship, and we believe that love and communication are the keys to a happy, fulfilling life together.

About Sarah (by Chelsea)

Sarah is my safe place, the person I turn to for comfort and support. I am happy to get a front row seat in how Sarah treats and cares for human rights, causing a change in me and how I see the world. She’s incredibly kind and has a heart of gold, always thinking of others before herself. I admire her determination and the way she goes after her goals with unwavering focus, like this past Spring I cheered her on as she competed in a 6-mile open water swim race in Miami, Florida. Sarah loves water whether it’s racing in the ocean or boating on the lake.

Spring and summer are always exciting with activities at Sarah’s parents’ lake house and pontoon boat. She is always the boat captain when we go boating, making sure our nieces and nephews are having a blast tubing and also being safe on the water when swimming with life vests. Her mothering nature and always taking care of others are such great qualities that I think will make her a great mom. Early in our relationship, Sarah was the solo chef of the house and then during COVID we decided to take turns where I would cook one week and she would cook the next. She has helped me become a confident chef. Whether she’s working with clients in real estate or simply making our home a warm, welcoming place, she does everything with care and dedication. Sarah is also a lot of fun — she has a great sense of humor, and she’s always up for an adventure. I feel so lucky to have her by my side.

About Chelsea (by Sarah)

Chelsea is a magnetic person with a gift for inspiring people, especially children. She lights up any room she walks into and quickly becomes friends with everyone. She’s energetic, loving, and goofy. Kids always have a blast with her because she invents fun games and challenges. For example, one weekend we visited some friends and they have a 9 and 5 year old; Chelsea asked them to give us a talent show – both kids were thrilled to showcase their costumes and dance moves. As an artist, her mind is always coming up with new ideas and fun adventures which makes our relationship a blast. Years ago, she created a Fall event for kids called, “Little Monsters” where elementary school kids were asked to paint art around Halloween. Once they were finished with their masterpieces, she hosted an art show for their work in her gallery. Chelsea knows how to have fun and also how to set rules, often rewarding our nephew, niece, and friends’ children for complying. For example, we had a slumber party with our nephew, niece, and Chelsea said that if they brush their teeth before bed, then we can do a “spa day” with face masks afterwards. Both of them were happy to do a good job brushing their teeth.

I adore Chelsea to her core — she keeps things light when I get too serious and is great at coming up with creative solutions to sticky problems. She seems to never get tired of eating hamburgers or pepperoni pizza whenever we don’t feel like cooking; I know I can make her day by asking her if she wants either of those meals. Chelsea is a competitive athlete, unusually good at almost any sport she plays from volleyball to pickleball to cycling — she can do it all! Her organizational skills aren’t so great, so we’ve created some good systems in the house to keep things organized, like color coordinating the closet. She is my biggest cheerleader and supports me with anything I’m passionate about trying, and she will be the same when raising a child, allowing them to discover their likes, dislikes, and pursue their interests. I believe she’s going to be an amazing mom someday!

Family and Community

Love is the foundation of everything we do, and our family is central to our lives. We are incredibly fortunate to have a close-knit immediate family, all of whom live within a few hours of us here in Indiana. Our family members are all very supportive and excited for us to welcome a new member of our household.

We are deeply involved in the lives of our three nephews and one niece. Our two youngest nephews are toddlers, our niece is finishing elementary school, and our oldest nephew is in middle school. We take great joy in spending time with them, whether it’s cheering on our oldest nephew at his swim meets, helping our niece with her soccer skills, or simply hosting sleepovers where we snuggle on the couch to watch movies or have dance parties. Summer days, you’ll often see us playing in the pool or enjoying a barbecue at our family lake house, followed by watching fireworks together on the Fourth of July. We’re always there to lend a hand, whether it’s picking them up from school or getting them to their various activities. These moments of connection and love are what we cherish most, and we’re excited to share them with a baby.
We have fostered deep friendships in our community and have a wide social network. One of our friend groups hosts monthly themed dinner parties. We enjoy going to music festivals, friendsgivings, kayaking, hiking, and game nights with our friends and their families.
We live in a diverse, multiethnic college-town with plenty of city parks and playgrounds as well as a national forest with many hiking trails and public lakes. Our home is located in a friendly, wooded neighborhood just 2 miles from shopping, restaurants and entertainment. We love baking blueberry muffins for our neighbors, and in return they have helped with some of our small house projects.

Values

In our everyday lives, we live by a set of core values that guide us in everything we do. Honesty is at the heart of our relationship — we believe in being open and transparent with each other and those around us, always communicating with kindness and respect. Discovery is a driving force for us; we’re always eager to learn and explore, whether it’s through trying out new hobbies, traveling to new places, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. We value health in all its forms, believing that taking care of our bodies, minds, and spirits is essential to living a full and happy life. Adventure is woven into the fabric of our relationship — we thrive on new experiences and love to embrace the unknown, whether it’s a spontaneous road trip or a quiet hike in the woods. Trust is the glue that holds us together; we know we can always rely on each other, and that sense of security allows us to face life’s challenges with confidence. And finally, family is the cornerstone of our lives. We both come from families that have instilled in us the values of love, integrity, and support, and we are excited to pass these values on to a child.

We are committed to creating a home filled with love, laughter, and endless possibilities. We want a baby to grow up knowing they are deeply loved and supported, with the freedom to explore who they are and the confidence to pursue their dreams.

Adoption

In 2022, we began our journey to parenthood, undergoing several rounds of IUI and IVF, which were unsuccessful. After taking a year to heal, we embraced the path of adoption, excited and hopeful about becoming parents. We have deep respect for birth parents, viewing adoption as a courageous act where a birth parent puts their child first. We are committed to creating a nurturing environment that honors the birth parents, and we are open to maintaining an ongoing relationship to ensure a child understands their biological roots. We are dedicated to continuously educating ourselves on race and culture, ensuring a baby grows up with a strong sense of identity and pride in their heritage. With flexible jobs, a solid support system, and a willingness to adapt, we feel prepared for the joys and challenges that parenting will bring.

Thank you for spending a bit of your time with us and getting to know our family. We know that this is a deeply personal journey for you, and we want you to know how much we honor and admire your strength in considering adoption. If we’re lucky enough to be chosen by you, please know that we will always respect the love and care you have for this little one. Our hope is that, together, we can create a story full of love, laughter, and support — a story that always holds a place for you in whatever way feels right. We are here, with open hearts, ready to share this journey in a way that respects and celebrates you.

  • I adore my family. I am the oldest with three younger siblings and even though we are all adults, my parents still hide Easter eggs in their backyard for us to find. As kids, the eggs were filled with candy but now they’re filled with money and it’s a true competition to find the most eggs!
  • One of my favorite meals is my grandma’s homemade spaghetti and meatballs recipe.
  • I had dinner with the first female tribal chief of a small community in southern Kenya. She gifted me with a brightly colored cloth called a “kanga” to wear to our delicious meal.
  • The summer before high school, I served as a Student Ambassador to New Zealand and Australia to learn about each country’s cultures, geography, politics, and histories. We fed wild dolphins at a wild dolphin sanctuary and learned about their habitat.
  • When I was in elementary school, my younger siblings and I taught our family dog how to climb our backyard trees!
  • I studied abroad in Spain for a summer in college and while hiking in the mountains with some friends, we were chased by a hungry, wild horse that wanted to eat our sandwiches.
  • I love camping. Sleeping in a tent in the woods under the stars and then building a campfire the first thing in the morning to make bacon and eggs for breakfast is one of my favorite things to do in the fall.
  • Holidays are so magical for me, especially Christmas. My family tradition is to have a big meal with extended family on Christmas Eve and wake up early on Christmas morning. First, we open our stockings, then our presents, and once all the gifts have been opened, my mom makes us omelets. While she cooks, we play games and hangout in our pjs all morning.
  • My parents have a lake house, and during the summer months we spend a lot of time boating around the lake with friends and family and roasting marshmallows over the campfire for dessert.

  • Christmas Eve has always been my favorite night of the year — a magical time full of family traditions. Despite my parents divorcing when I was young, we’ve come together over the years, blending our family, with my mom, dad, stepmom, and older sister all sharing in the joy of our combined holiday celebrations.
  • I’m a triathlon enthusiast and love staying active. I have accomplished two Ironman races which consist of a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike race, and finish with a 26.2 mile run.
  • Painting is my go-to creative outlet when I need to unwind and express myself. I love doing that in my art studio. My love for fine art goes way back to my college days, where I focused on Arts Technology and fine art photography.
  • I’m the founder of an Emmy award-winning production company where I get to blend my love for storytelling with my skills in photography and video production. I’ve been running my company for 20 years, and it’s not just a job, it’s my passion.
  • My 102 year old Grandmother is a true Rosie the Riveter, artist, and fashion designer who is one of my role models and inspires me every day! She still lives on her own farm and loves gardening.
  • I’m always up for an adventure, whether it’s traveling to a new country, trying out a spontaneous road trip, or participating in a triathlon. I believe life is meant to be lived fully and fearlessly.
  • I’m naturally drawn to the big picture in everything I do. Whether it’s a new business idea or a creative project, I always have a thousand ideas per day.
  • I’m a big optimist and I believe in finding the silver lining in every situation. Even when life throws challenges my way, I approach them with a positive attitude and a belief that everything happens for a reason.
  • I got into cooking more when I met Sarah. We take turns cooking meals every other week, and sometimes we do themes to make it fun. One time, we spent a few months picking different countries and cooking recipes from those places — it was a delicious adventure!

leroy

  • I’m Leroy, a total cuddle bug. My parents call me a Velcro dog because I’m happiest when I’m snuggled up next to humans.
  • I’m a Vizsla which basically means I’m energetic and can run fast like a cheetah!
  • When I’m playing tug-of-war with my sister, Donna, I gallop like a horse and my moms think it’s the cutest thing!
  • I love sneaking into bed whenever my parents are not looking and stealing food scraps that fall on the floor during meals.
  • I am a good road trip dog. My moms have taken me on three different trips — one to California, one to Florida, and one to North Carolina. I can’t wait for our next one!

donna

  • I’m Donna, 100% Super Mutt, the queen of zoomies, and I have the cutest little beard that will tickle anyone’s face.
  • I’m a playful pup who never misses a chance to wrestle with Leroy after breakfast.
  • Mud puddles at the dog park are my favorite, especially on hot days when I can cool off and get messy.
  • I’m the house alarm clock, waking up everyone with kisses and actual hugs.
  • I’m full of energy and absolutely love other dogs and children. One of my nephews learned how to say my name before learning to say my mom’s name.

the hen house

  • We are three fancy-feathered ladies that love squakin’ from dusk until dawn.
  • I’m Betty, the oldest and sassiest. I keep the girls in line.
  • I’m Snow White, one of the newest bird-brained chickens who loves spinach and sleeping on top of the coop.
  • I’m Buttercup, I love blueberries and watermelon on a hot summer day.
  • We love giving our humans three eggs a day to create yummy meals.
