Luis & Travis

Hi! We’re Luis and Travis—partners in life, laughter, and the occasional Harry Potter house rivalry (Luis is proudly a Ravenclaw, and Travis insists he’s a Slytherin). We’ve been together for over ten years and married since 2019, building a life filled with love, joy, and adventure. Our relationship is rooted in mutual respect, shared passions, and a deep desire to grow our family through adoption. We balance each other in all the best ways—Luis brings the energy and heart, Travis brings the calm and quiet strength—and together, we’re ready to give a child a home full of love, laughter, and lifelong support.

About Us

Luis works in training and development, blending his background in theatre and public speaking into everything he does. Travis leads a veterinary recruiting team, helping connect people with meaningful careers in animal care. We both work from home. We are always surrounded by family—including Luis’s parents, who live with us—and a close-knit circle of lifelong friends.

One of the biggest blessings in our lives is having Luis’s mom and dad in our home. They’re excited to help care for the baby during the day while we work from home, ensuring we won’t miss out on those first smiles, steps, or snuggles. With planned parental leave and a loving support system, we’re ready to step into this next chapter with intention and warmth.

Outside of work, we love cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Fire, exploring new places, finding the best local coffee spots, and curling up for Harry Potter marathons—something our whole family gets into with trivia nights and themed treats.

We live in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood full of charm, with parks, trails, and a playground just a short walk away. We look forward to Saturday farmers markets, storytime at the local library, and ice cream dates with other families in our community.

At the heart of everything is our belief that family is built on love, and we can’t wait to share our home and hearts with a child who will always feel safe, celebrated, and deeply loved.

Dear Expecting Mother:

As we write this, we are filled with gratitude, hope, and deep respect for you. We understand the immense strength and love it takes to consider adoption, and we want you to know we see you—your courage, your selflessness, and your love for your child. Whatever path your journey takes, we hope you feel supported and valued.

If you choose us, a child will grow up in a home full of love, laughter, and adventure. Our family and friends are eager to welcome them, and they will be embraced by a community that celebrates them for who they are. Life in our home is filled with warmth—movie nights, Broadway tunes (off-key but enthusiastic!), cheering on our favorite Chicago sports teams, and exploring new places. We can’t wait to share these moments with a child and discover what makes them laugh, what sparks their curiosity, and what dreams light up their heart.

We understand the gravity of this decision, and we will always honor and respect you. If chosen, we promise your child will always know the love that led to this choice. We are open to any level of communication you are comfortable with. You are strong, brave, and so loved.

How Travis would describe Luis

Luis is one of those people you notice right away—not just because he talks a lot (which he definitely does), but because he makes everyone around him feel welcome. He’s full of energy, always cracking jokes, always making people laugh. I’ve never seen someone turn a random grocery store trip into a full-on social event, but somehow he manages it.

He’s the kind of person who remembers your birthday, your favorite snack, and probably the name of your dog too. He puts so much heart into everything—from planning holidays to helping his parents or making sure our home feels cozy and fun. He’s also super creative—he’s done theater for years, and you can tell. He sings while folding laundry, and let’s just say… sometimes the neighbors get a show.

Luis is organized in a way that kind of scares me—in a good way. Color-coded calendars, packing lists, spreadsheets for vacations… I just show up and carry the bags. But really, what I love most is how much he cares. He shows up for the people he loves, no questions asked. He’s going to be such a good dad because he’s already so great at being present, loving, and a little bit silly—which, let’s be honest, every kid needs.

How Luis would describe Travis

Travis is calm in all the ways I’m not. I could be talking a mile a minute, and he’ll just look at me, smile, and say, “Do you want a snack?” He’s steady, kind, and probably the most patient person I’ve ever met—which works out well, because I can be… a lot.

He doesn’t like the spotlight, but he’s always there making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. He’s the guy who remembers to bring the phone chargers, keeps us on track when we travel, and somehow always knows how to fix the Wi-Fi. He’s a planner and a thinker, and he’s got this way of making you feel like everything’s going to be okay, even when it’s not.

Also, he’s low-key hilarious. Like, dry humor that sneaks up on you and makes you laugh until you snort. And the way he lights up around family, especially kids—it just melts me. He’s the fun-but-stable guy that kids naturally gravitate toward. He doesn’t try too hard, he’s just real, and that’s what makes him so special.

I know that when we become dads, Travis is going to be the one teaching life lessons while helping with homework, making sure bedtime happens on time, and probably sneaking in a few dad jokes too. He’s solid, he’s funny, and he’s the best partner I could ever ask for.

Our Multicultural Family

One of the things we love most about our home is that it’s full of culture, traditions, and stories from all over. Luis was born in Venezuela and grew up between South Florida and Latin America, while Travis is from a small town in Indiana with deep midwestern roots. Together, we’ve built a home that blends all the best parts of both of our worlds.

In our house, you might hear Spanish and English being spoken (sometimes in the same sentence), eat Venezuelan Hallacas during the holidays, and celebrate with classic Midwest-style BBQs in the summer. Our family is just as mixed and beautiful—Luis’s parents live with us, bringing even more culture and flavor to our everyday lives, and Travis’s family is right nearby, ready for game nights, holidays, and lots of laughs.

We believe being part of a multicultural family means learning from each other, honoring where we come from, and making space for new traditions too. Whether it’s blasting Latin music while we cook, rooting for Chicago sports teams, or celebrating big and small moments from different backgrounds, our home is all about love, respect, and inclusion.

We know that every child brings their own history and heritage—and we’re so ready to celebrate that, learn about it, and make sure they always feel proud of who they are and where they come from.

Family Traditions

Traditions are a big part of our lives—and honestly, they’re some of our favorite memories. Growing up, both of us had families that loved to celebrate, gather, and create moments that stick with you forever. Now, we’ve taken the best of both our worlds and built our own mix of traditions that bring us joy year after year.

Every Christmas, Luis and his mom make traditional Venezuelan food, and we turn up the Latin holiday music while cooking as a family. It’s loud, messy, and full of love—just how we like it. Travis’s side has their own magical Christmas Eve tradition: a big family gathering filled with food, games, and so many Christmas trees, it feels like stepping into a holiday movie.

We also love celebrating New Year’s with a little adventure—whether it’s a trip to Disney or a cozy night with family, we always ring in the year together. Summers usually include lake days, cookouts, and cornhole tournaments (Travis takes his cornhole title very seriously). And no matter the season, game nights, movie marathons, and spontaneous living-room dance parties are pretty common around here.

These traditions aren’t just fun—they’re part of how we stay connected, create memories, and build a home full of warmth. We can’t wait to share them (and create new ones) with a child.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and get to know our hearts. We’re truly honored and hopeful—and sending love and gratitude your way, no matter what you choose.

No updates at this time.

  • I’ve loved performing since I was a kid, and to this day, I still perform for local theatre shows just for the joy of being on stage.
  • I grew up between Venezuela and the U.S., so I speak both Spanish and English—and I’m proud of my cultural mix.
  • I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and definitely a Ravenclaw. I may or may not have a wand tucked away in my desk drawer.
  • Broadway musicals are my happy place. I can sing along to most cast albums and never say no to a live performance.
  • My parents live with us, and I’m grateful every day for the chance to share life—and lots of family meals—with them.
  • Cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Fire is a big part of our home life—game days are non-negotiable.
  • During the holidays, I love making Hallacas, a traditional Venezuelan dish made of corn dough filled with meat, olives, and raisins, wrapped in banana leaves. It’s like a festive tamale!
  • I’m the proud godfather to two amazing little girls in Florida. Even though we live far apart now, I never miss a chance to call, visit, or read them a bedtime story.
  • I’m always trying to grow and learn. I read a lot of leadership books and take courses that help me keep learning and evolving—both for work and just for myself.
  • I’m secretly the planner in our family. I might not always admit it, but I love a good list and a color-coded calendar.

Travis

  • I grew up in a small town in Indiana and still carry those close-knit, small-town values with me every day.
  • I’m a planner at heart. I love mapping out trips, organizing our weekends, and figuring out all the details—Luis usually handles the fun, and I handle the structure.
  • I’m more of an introvert, so I find joy in simple things—quiet evenings at home, a great book, or just hanging out with the people I love.
  • One of my favorite weekend rituals is trying new coffee shops—especially when I can enjoy my favorite drink, a double shot of espresso, in a cozy atmosphere..
  • Family means everything to me. We moved back to Indiana to be closer to mine, and I wouldn’t trade the traditions and memories we’ve built for anything.
  • I take cornhole very seriously and may or may not be the reigning champ in our family—though my niece is starting to give me a run for my money.
  • Making people laugh is something I really enjoy. Whether it’s a goofy joke or just being silly, I love bringing a smile to someone’s face.
  • I’m a big animal person and seem to have a calming presence around pets—it just always comes naturally.
  • Even though I’m a homebody at times, I love exploring new places. Some of my favorite memories are from our travels to Spain, NYC, and D.C.
  • At the end of the day, I’m the steady one—always thinking about how to keep our life grounded, supported, and full of love.

marlon

  • For Marlon a garage isn’t just for parking cars; it’s his personal playground where he mixes his love for cars with his knack for fixing anything and everything.
  • Growing up with a soccer ball at his feet, Marlon’s got the skills and passion of a true fan—he still never misses a match and is always cheering for Lionel Messi and the Inter Miami team.
  • Whether it’s a busted pipe, a broken gadget, or a car that won’t start, Marlon’s the go-to guy who can fix it—usually with tools in one hand and a book in the other.
  • Give Marlon a topic and he’ll deep-dive into it like a pro; his love for reading and research makes him a walking encyclopedia with a twist of curiosity.

Mireya

  • Mireya’s world is full of glitter, glue, and imagination; if it involves arts and crafts, she’s already mastered it—or is halfway through creating something magical. She especially loves creating floral arrangements for the family.
  • Whether it’s her first time or the thousandth, Mireya never gets tired of a good film. Weekends mean cozy vibes, familiar plots, and lots of buttery popcorn and snacks.
  • Cooking isn’t just a hobby for Mireya—it’s her happy place. She whips up delicious dishes and loves teaching others how to turn recipes into lifelong memories.
  • From Uno showdowns to solo rounds of solitaire and intense games of biriba (Venezuelan version of rummy), Mireya always brings the fun (and usually a winning streak) to the table.

cody

  • Cody is a 14-year-old goldendoodle with the energy of a pup and the focus of a tennis champ. His greatest love (besides his humans)? His beloved pelota—aka tennis ball.
  • Cody acquired a small pink travel pillow from Grandma. Ever since, it’s been his prized possession.
  • Like clockwork, Cody lives for 7 PM. That’s peanut butter time, his favorite snack.
  • Cody doesn’t just like people—he loves them. Whether you’re new or family, he’ll greet you with a wag, a smile, and snuggles.
