Skyler & Matty

Hello! We are Matty and Skyler and are so happy to share a bit about our little family with you. We first met on Valentine’s Day 2020 and have been together ever since. The foundation of our relationship is love, respect, and honesty… plus a whole lot of fun! We love playing little pranks on each other and keeping our relationship lighthearted. That is really important because as jobs, we both work as registered nurses. Seeing one another be a caregiver for strangers in a really scary time of their lives really bonded us as a couple.

We spent the first few years together sharing adventures with each other (and often our family/friends). Some of our favorite destinations are the beach (ANY beach), the mountains, and Disney World—because we believe in “Happily Ever Afters.” We also have some amazing memories at Disney. That said, some of our favorite days are lazy days together in our cozy home relaxing, watching a movie, or cooking fun meals. We built our house a few years ago and have enjoyed making it a home for our family. We LOVE animals. We have two doggos (Rocco and Walter), and two kitties (Cinder and Ella… see what we did there?)

One really unique fact about us is that we both have adoption within our families already! Both Matty’s mom and Skyler’s brother were adopted, so it’s something we’ve always been very passionate about when considering our future family. Both of their birth moms’ decisions to share their children’s lives forever changed ours in the most amazing way. We thank you so much for taking the time to get to know our family, and we are looking forward to the chance to get to know you as well.

  • I maybe have more houseplants than I should… But I really love watching them grow! Some of my favorites I have been able to take roots and make a second plant (which I usually give to others as a gift).
  • I love going for walks in our neighborhood. Sometimes I listen to music, podcasts, or just the sound of nature. There are tons of walking paths by our house, perfect for taking Rocco, Walter, and Cinder (in her backpack), and one day, we can’t wait to add a baby to this routine!
  • I kept all of my old video games from when I was younger. One of my favorite hobbies is pulling out my old gameboy and playing Pokémon for the 20th time, just like I did when I was a kid.
  • My grandma taught me how to play the piano. I have piano keys tattooed on my arm to remind me of her while I’m playing.
  • Being active and outdoors is very important to me. I have run five half marathons (three more this year), three “Tough Mudder”s, and over twenty 5Ks.
  • I am a huge animal-lover. We have 4 pets, plus occasional foster dogs and cats, and a lot of birds we feed. Cardinals are my favorite because they remind me of my grandparents.
  • I grew up going to Disney. My grandparents stayed at the Disney Campground in the winter and my grandpa worked at EPCOT. I love creating new memories with friends and family at a place that has so many happy memories for me.
  • Star Wars and Harry Potter are my go-to movies. I built a yellow lightsaber with Matty a couple years ago. For my Harry Potter fans, I am a Ravenclaw through and through. I think I’d be really good at Quidditch, if only my broom would fly.
  • Being creative and building things is so much fun for me. I love building LEGOs, playing puzzles, and doing projects around the house. I hope to build a garden this year. The birds and bunnies probably hope I do too.
  • I have the biggest sweet tooth. I LOVE donuts, cookies, and brownies. We always have something chocolatey and peanut buttery in our pantry, just in case of emergencies.

  • I am a Christmas baby, and I actually ruined my family’s Christmas party when I decided to meet the world. The best thing about my birthday being on Christmas is that I usually get a couple of extra presents!
  • I started taking adult figure skating lessons in 2025, and I actually just learned my first two jumps a few weeks ago! One day I hope I can take a little one skating!
  • I love being active and staying in shape. Running, lifting weights, skating, and skiing are my favorite ways to stay active.
  • I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as bad pizza, only varying degrees of goodness! There is always an “emergency 4 cheese pizza” in our freezer at home.
  • I was very involved in marching band, drum corps, color guard, and winterguard for over 30 years…in other words, I was one of those band/color guard nerds.
  • I worked as a dancer in Disney World! I was in a stage show called Blast! at EPCOT from May through September of 2002.
  • I’m 1 of 7 brothers and sisters, and I fall directly in the middle of the birth order. I have 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and a great nephew who all can’t wait to have a baby to snuggle up to!
  • I absolutely love to cook! I get so much joy out of creating food and having people enjoy it! When I first moved away from home at 18, watching cooking shows on PBS (free tv!) was something I did a lot of back then, and I learned so much about it from them.
  • I am that person that says, “don’t ever say never to me.” Two years ago, I tore my ACL in a skiing accident, and I had a complete reconstruction of that ligament. I was so worried that I was not going to be able to enjoy some of the hobbies I had grown to love; not to mention being strong for my family. Through physical therapy and a lot of determination, I made a full recovery!
  • I love to read and immerse myself into a novel. Some of my favorites are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Robert Langdon books, The Hunger Games novels, and I do enjoy autobiographies as well!

rocco

  • I look big and tough, but I am the most gentle, sweet, and loyal boy.
  • My favorite toy is a pink piggy, and I have loved her since I was a baby!
  • My nickname is “wiggle toots,” because I always wiggle and toots!
  • My best friend is my grandma Pam (Pamaw) because she lets me sit on her lap even though I weigh 60lbs.
  • I love watching tv! I can’t wait to show a new baby brother/sister my favorite cartoons.

ella

  • I only have one eye, but I don’t let that stop me from being a super cat!
  • I am a professional biscuit maker!
  • I am a world champion toy mouse hunter!
  • I am pretty shy usually, but this year, I have decided to be much more outgoing and social.
  • I am super petite and my vet tells me I am forever “kitten sized.”

walter

  • I look kind of like Stitch, and I can’t wait to have a baby in our Ohana.
  • I love to go on fun family walks with my dads.
  • My dads call me “lil tootle snootle” because I snoots and I toots.
  • My tongue is longer than my mouth so it sticks out, but that just means I will be ready to give the baby kisses when they come!
  • I love to wear my doggy sweatshirts;they keep me so warm and cozy!

cinder

  • I love to ride on my dad’s shoulders.
  • I have been known to carry whole loaves of bread and bags of food out of the pantry. I am always hungry!
  • I talk and chirp A LOT. Especially at dinner time or when I see those pesky birdies outside.
  • I have a cat bed in front of the fireplace. And NO, I am not spoiled at all.
  • I am much more dog than cat, and I love to snuggle and play with my brothers.
