Mike & Ashley

Welcome to our profile! We are Mike and Ashley. Mike works in data analytics, and Ashley is a developmental preschool teacher, which is special education for students ages 3-5 years old. As a couple, we are known for being easy-going, good-natured, and up for anything fun! We love to explore, experience new places, and try new activities; we genuinely enjoy spending time together. Family is very important to both of us and was one of the first things we discussed during our early dating days. We met through mutual friends and have been together for 12 years – married for 9! We are both compassionate, dependable, and down-to-earth people that also have silly, goofy sides that have always dreamed of becoming parents. Thanks for reading our profile, and we hope to meet you soon!

Ashley

  • I grew up with a brother who has special needs. It wasn’t easy at times, but I feel that it definitely taught me empathy and helped shape me into the person I am today.
  • I have worked with kids of all ages in some capacity for over half of my life, whether it’s been babysitting, before and after school care, summer camp counselor, and now teaching. I have been Ms. Ashley for many years, now I’m looking forward to the title of “mom.”
  • I have had the same best friend since we were 3 years old!
  • I have a huge sweet tooth and my favorite sweet treat is chocolate chip cookies. I like trying cookies wherever I go. Blondie’s Cookies and The Cavity Factory are two of my favorite places!
  • I love doing laundry… weird, I know!
  • Instead of going on spring break in college during my junior year, I went with a group of students to Tennessee and helped build and fix up a community center.
  • I played volleyball and softball growing up and into high school. My dad coached my little league softball teams for about 8 years, and it’s something I look forward to Mike or I doing with a child as well (if they choose the sports-route).
  • I love animals of any kind. I can usually be found snuggling a cat or petting a dog, and I collect anything with owls on it.
  • I love to listen to music. My parents always had music on, which rubbed off on me. My playlists are so random. They go from The Beatles all the way to Lil Wayne and everything in between.
  • I have traveled to 7 different countries – England, France, Germany, Austria, Mexico, Canada, and Barbados. England and Germany were my favorites because of all of the history and getting to experience completely different cultures.

Mike

  • I was a four sport athlete in high school. I played basketball, baseball, tennis, and track. If a child grows to love sports, I would love to teach/coach them one day.
  • I was the valedictorian of my high school class.
  • My favorite dessert is ice cream. I like almost any kind, but some of my favorites include Reese’s peanut butter cup and Snickers blizzards from Dairy Queen.
  • As a kid, my parents took my brother and I to Florida almost every summer for vacation.
  • The love of music runs in my family. Both of my grandmothers played the piano; and after one of them gave me piano lessons for many years, I later realized I preferred the alto sax and played that in high school. When I was older, I learned to play the bass guitar too.
  • Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time. I’m a rock n’ roll music fan and listen to anything from classic rock through modern day rock bands.
  • On my mom’s side of the family, she was one of eight kids. I had 15 first cousins from her family and another 3 first cousins from my dad’s side. Almost all my extended family lived within 20 miles from me.
  • I’m from a small town with a population of 1,000 people. I knew almost everyone in town growing up, and my high school only had 150 kids from 9th through 12th grade.
  • Fishing, playing sports, and being outside was a big part of my childhood. I could always be found with the neighbor kids shooting hoops or playing catch.
  •  I love to travel and have been to 44 states. One of my goals is to make it to all 50 states.

Leroy

  • I was rescued from the shelter
  • My favorite food is any kind of fish or chicken, but I also love bananas!
  • I love to play fetch. I will find my favorite toy and drop it in your lap in hopes that you’ll throw it for me!
  • I’m scared of the doorbell and will even run if I hear one on a tv show.
  • I enjoy watching the birds outside and will run from window to window because I think I can catch one!

Ozzy

  • My mom was driving home from work one day and just happened to spot me in a parking lot. I was so tiny and didn’t even weigh a pound yet. I’m so grateful she found me!
  • I love to eat anything fish, and I love milk as a treat.
  • I love to play fetch (just like my brother) and will chase down a toy and bring it back to my humans, so they will throw it for me again and again.
  • I can be found looking out the windows during the day and chattering at the birds. Trying to catch them is so fun!
  • I have lots of energy and love to play, but I also enjoy curling up on your lap with a blanket and taking a little nap.
