Chad & Samantha

Hi! We are Chad and Samantha (Sam), and we are so grateful you are taking the time to get to know us. We have been married for over nine years and are raising our son, Quade, in a warm, joy-filled home. Chad is a CPA and financial advisor, and Sam is a stay-at-home mom and photographer. We are best friends who genuinely enjoy doing life together, whether that’s traveling, making homemade pizza, taking walks to our favorite coffee shop, or spending time with family and friends.

At the center of our family is our Christian faith in Jesus, which shapes how we love, parent, and live each day. We value loving God, loving people, and enjoying life together. One unique thing about our family is that we celebrate our own made-up holiday every year called Stooksday—the day after Thanksgiving—when we decorate the Christmas tree, bake cookies, wrap presents, and kick off the Christmas season together. Our home is filled with laughter, intentionality, and deep love, and we are excited to continue growing our family through adoption.

  • I’m the second oldest of seven kids, so I grew up enjoying the fun of having lots of siblings. It’s one of the reasons I am looking forward to having kids close in age with one another—built in best friends!
  • Some of my favorite childhood memories are with my Grammy in the kitchen. She taught me to cook from a young age, and I still use many of her recipes today. I hope cooking together becomes something our children remember too.
  • Chad and I lived in Ireland for two months in 2015. It was one of the best adventures we’ve ever had, and the trip where we realized we really could do life anywhere—as long as we were together.
  • I spent almost ten years working in youth ministry, and contrary to popular opinion, I think teenagers are awesome! I loved getting to walk alongside students during such an important season of their lives.
  • I can recite all 50 states in alphabetical order. It’s completely useless information… but somehow it’s stuck with me all these years.
  • I can hold a conversation in American Sign Language because, at one point, I was going to school to be a sign language interpreter! Even though it didn’t end up being my career, it’s something I’ve really enjoyed learning, and now it’s been fun teaching Quade signs too.
  • Making sourdough or baking cookies is one of my favorite ways to unwind. You’ll usually find music playing, flour all over the counters, and someone sneaking cookie dough.
  • If the weather is nice, I’m probably outside. I love gardening, pulling weeds, planting flowers, or finding any excuse to spend time in the sunshine.
  • I love deep conversations, meaningful friendships, and really knowing people well. Save the small talk about the weather—tell me your life story!
  • I genuinely enjoy organizing. Give me a messy closet, pantry, or garage, and I’m probably more excited than I should be.

  • If there’s a dance floor at a wedding, there’s a good chance I’m still on it at the end of the night. I never seem to get tired of dancing.
  • I’m the youngest of three boys, but my brothers are 13 and 15 years older than me. I joke that I was raised somewhere between having older brothers and being an only child.
  • Naples, Florida has felt like a second home ever since I was 14. Some of my favorite family memories have been made there, and it’s still one of my favorite places to relax.
  • I grew up in Boy Scouts with my dad as one of the troop leaders. Looking back, some of those camping trips and life lessons are memories I’ll always be grateful for.
  • I was voted Class Clown in high school. If you ask my friends, they’ll probably tell you not much has changed and now that I’m a dad, I love sharing my humor with Quade! He thinks I’m pretty funny, too.
  • I’m a CPA, but I’m probably not what comes to mind when you picture one. I love what I do, but I also love people, adventure, and making others laugh.
  • I take BBQ pretty seriously. I’m always looking for a great local barbecue spot whenever we travel.
  • Running has become one of my favorite hobbies and something I do with Quade by bringing him along in the jogging stroller. I enjoy the challenge, the quiet time, and having a reason to get outside.
  • After high school, I spent nine months living in Australia. It sparked a lifelong love of traveling and experiencing new places.
  • Planning our next adventure is one of my favorite things. Whether it’s a trip across the world or a weekend getaway, I love making memories together.

Quade

  • I took my first airplane ride when I was only two weeks old. Mom and Dad say I was born ready for adventure.
  • Mom has taught me more than ten signs in American Sign Language! It’s one of my favorite ways to tell Mom and Dad what I need.
  • I have a pretty great belly laugh—but you have to work for it! Once I get going, everyone else usually starts laughing too.
  • I love my Yoto player. If there’s music playing, there’s a good chance I’m dancing too and have learned all my best dance moves from Daddy!
  • My newest talent is spinning in circles. Sometimes I get a little dizzy… but that definitely doesn’t stop me from doing it again.
