TIM AND LINDSAY –
MATCHED WITH EXPECTANT MOTHER
Hi there! We are Tim and Lindsay. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We have been together for almost 10 years and adopted our son Xander in 2015. We are so excited about him becoming a big brother! We value our family, and love to spend every second that we can together. Every day is a new adventure! We have a relationship with Xander’s birth family and would welcome that with you as well. We are eager to hear your hopes and dreams for your child!
We met through mutual friends from college, and have been inseparable since our first date in 2007. We knew almost immediately that we were meant for each other. I (Lindsay) knew that Tim was the “one” when I visited his classroom to watch him teach. He is an elementary school teacher, so it melted my heart when I saw him in an over-sized rocking chair reading to his students. I (Tim) fell in love with Lindsay because she has this way of making everyone around her feel comfortable and able to be themselves. We got married after dating for two years, and have grown stronger and stronger each year of our marriage. Life has thrown us many ups and downs, but we have always weathered the storms together. As a couple, we are best friends and truly enjoy spending each day together. You can typically find us at home playing with our son, watching movies, or spending time with our families. In a nutshell, Tim loves sports, working out, and watching movies. Lindsay loves shopping, naps, and reality TV.
After a year of marriage, we began trying to get pregnant. Unfortunately, we experienced many difficulties with infertility which ended with Lindsay having a hysterectomy. We decided that adoption was the right path for us to take, and in 2015, we adopted our son, Xander. Being parents is the greatest blessing as well as the hardest job we’ve ever had. Every day is a new adventure for us! Our typical days include playing outside, going on bike rides, reading books, and watching Mother Goose Club. Xander’s favorite activities include dancing, brushing his teeth, and playing with his cousins. As with most toddlers, we also have challenges with parenting. We definitely experience our fair share of sleepless nights, tantrums at restaurants, and food being thrown at dinner. We wouldn’t trade it for the world, though! Building our family through adoption has been such a gift, and we are so excited to add another little one to the bunch!
Lindsay about Tim
I always dreamed of finding a man that would treat me the way that my dad treated my mom. I found that in Tim! He is the most generous, thoughtful, and honest man I know. Tim is an elementary school teacher. From the moment we met, I noticed that he has a gift with children. It is amazing to see how he communicates with kids and is able to show so much patience with each of them as they learn. Seeing Tim as a dad has made me fall in love with him even more. He is the most devoted father! Tim is a very hands-on dad. He changes diapers, reads bedtime stories, and is the perfect role model for our son, Xander. I look forward to seeing him share a special bond with our next child.
Tim about Lindsay
Lindsay is a Diabetes Sales Specialist for a pharmaceutical company. She is the most kind and generous person I have ever known. If I made a check list of qualities I was looking for in a spouse, I would have checked all of them off with Lindsay! She is such an incredible role model for our child and is so patient and loving with Xander. I love watching her teach him new things every day and read to him every night. She is great at letting him explore and be a little boy, while at the same time always keeping him safe. She is the one that makes him feel better when he is sad or falls down. Their bond is one of a kind! Xander and I are so blessed to have Lindsay in our lives.
Lindsay has an older brother, Scott, who is married to Jennifer. They have a daughter, Olivia, and twin sons, Jackson and Gavin. She also has an older sister, Jenny, who is married to David. They have two sons, Paul and Andrew, and two daughters, Danielle and Anna. Lindsay’s Dad lost his battle with cancer in 2010. Her Mom, Linda has done an incredible job of helping the family find a new normal. We all live within a 5-mile radius, and spend time together at the nieces’ and nephews’ ball games, and at Mom’s house for Sunday dinner. Our favorite traditions include Christmas Day at Mom’s house, birthday celebrations, and trick-or-treating together in Mom’s neighborhood! Grandma Linda is retired, so she enjoys being a full-time grandma. She spends every day with the grandkids whether it is helping them on the school bus, taking them to ball practice, or simply snuggling at home.
Tim is the oldest of 4 boys. He has three brothers, Chris (32), Justin (28), and Jeremy (12). His oldest brother, Chris, and his wife have four children. We also spend time throughout the year with Tim’s extended family which includes his aunts, uncle, grandparents, and cousins. We feel so blessed to have a family that adores Xander. They are so excited for the next addition to the family!
We live in a rural area, just 15 minutes south of the city. We live in a small quiet neighborhood with many other families our age. We go on walks and bike rides every evening with other families on our street. We live in a 1.5 story ranch home on an acre of land. It is perfect home for raising a family.
Our son, Xander, goes to childcare a few miles away from our home. His babysitter is a friend and neighbor of our family. Lindsay plans to be a stay at home mom within the next year, so we will no longer need childcare.
Openness in adoption
Our first adoption is open, and we were able to join the birth mother at her doctor appointments and were present for the birth of our son. We send pictures, letters, and updates to his birth family. We have also been able to have a couple face-to-face meetings which have been so memorable and fun. We both understand the importance of openness in adoption and we’re open to discussing what feels best for you during the adoption process.
