KIM – PLACEMENT
Hi! My name is Kim and I live with my best bud and four legged child, Newman, in Indianapolis. I am Vice President of Sales & Marketing at a medical supply distribution company. I have been with the company since I was 19 years old and it has been a very rewarding career for me. I enjoy meeting people from all over the country and helping others. In my spare time I love baking, seeing concerts, traveling, walks with Newman, yoga, Netflix + chilling, as well as spending time with friends. I am excited about having an open adoption and look forward to getting to know you!
MY ADOPTION PATH
I have enjoyed an amazing career that I am proud of, however I have reached the point in my life where I am ready for a family. I have always imagined adoption as the path I would take to grow my family and could not be more excited to share a beautiful life with my future child, and his/her first family. My bosses are very supportive of my adoption plan and will give me a full maternity leave, as well as adjust my responsibilities after the baby is here so I can limit travel. My boss adopted both of his children so he knows exactly what I will be going through. After maternity leave, I plan to have an in-home nanny until baby is old enough to go to daycare and interact with his/her new friends.
LIFE ON THE MOVE!
I live in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood just down the street from a great park. An active lifestyle will be a part of our routine- walks, runs, hiking & exploring Indianapolis-markets, museums, cultural events, etc. I have a wonderful, large network of friends, both single & married with children, who are strong role models for young people in our community. We are often involved in fundraisers, races, community events, etc- I can’t wait to introduce our city to the little one and raise them in a world where giving back to others comes very natural to them.
SEE THE WORLD!
Traveling will also be a huge part of our life! I travel extensively for work, and also love to travel as a hobby. I feel very lucky to have been all over the country, and to certain parts of the world. I want to begin traveling as early as possible with my child so that they can see the world and appreciate all kinds of people, communities, languages, cultures etc. This year, I have been to Paris, Montana, and California. I’ll be headed to Mexico and Florida next in November. We will also spend a lot of time with family up north- our family has cottages in Michigan and Canada, where we spend many days in the summer- swimming, kayaking, boating, etc.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
My parenting style will be heavily focused on learning, reading, and education! Education was such a huge part of my life growing up. I loved reading and my mother often caught me up past my bedtime sneaking a book with a flashlight. I imagine my child being exposed to as much knowledge as possible, and I will do everything I can to foster that, and give them a path to higher education, if that’s the path that suits them. I plan to immerse them in community groups so they get to know other children in the neighborhood and community.
BACK IN THE DAY
Speaking of growing up- I grew up with my parents and one brother in Dayton, Ohio. I recently lost my father in May 2018, but my mom and my brother & his family still live in the Dayton area. It is an easy drive to get to see them, and we spend time together many times a year. My mom was a NICU nurse practitioner for 30 years and LOVES children. She will be a huge resource for me and is planning on spending several weeks with me after the baby comes home. I am also very close with my aunt & uncle and their two daughters. When I first began my career, I lived a few miles from them and spent many days & nights with them as my cousins were growing up- they are more like little sisters than cousins. The entire family is excited to welcome a new member – the second grandchild & great grandchild on my Mom’s side.
LOVE & HONESTY
Lastly, and most importantly- my home will be full of lots of love, hugs, laughter, adventure, and structure, with open and honest communication- he/she will be able to come to me and share how they are feeling-the good, the bad, the ugly. He or she will know as much about their background as appropriate for their age level. I will welcome you to be as much a part of their life as you are willing and able to be- I imagine a little one growing up in with an extended family (you!) that is beautiful and unique to their story. I can’t wait to meet you and learn yours.
All my love,
