DAN AND MISSY
Hello! We are Dan and Missy, thank you for taking the time to read our story. We are a married couple who have a strong sense of family and a deep affection for our two dogs. Our years together have been an adventure, full of challenges, heartache, fun and laughter. We love to travel and have seen some of the most beautiful places in the world. Though we enjoy couch surfing as much as anyone, we are much more likely to be outdoors hiking or exploring with our pups. We cannot wait to share all the things that we love with a child. Of all that we do, being with our families, and watching them grow, is by far our favorite. We’ve been praying for you and we are so grateful to have found the path to adoption.
The two of us met by happy accident in 2003 when we were introduced by mutual friends. We are both big Chicago White Sox fans and so a very special bond was formed over baseball season. We had so much fun that first summer, and an honest and respectful friendship was born. After that it was very easy and natural to fall in love. We share a love of sports, music, roller coasters and sushi. When we travel for work or play, we always try to fit in a game or a concert if we can. We love going to outdoor concert venues and have a tradition with our friends to cookout at our house before we all see Zac Brown each summer. Together, we’ve managed to overcome quite a few challenges and sometimes it was hard to see our way to the other side. Thankfully, we’ve always come through stronger than before. Words we live by- “We’re in no way perfect, we’re just trying to live our best life.”
MISSY ABOUT DAN
Dan is the love of my life, my cheerleader and my best friend. He is protective, loyal and kind and loves my family as much as I do. He is smart and witty and makes me laugh every day. Dan’s exterior is tough and solid but inside he’s soft and fuzzy. I love that when he spends time with our nieces and nephews, they really light up. He would do anything to make them happy. When I think of him as a father, my heart is absolutely filled with joy. Dan is going to be a such a great dad. He is without question, the best man I’ve ever known.
DAN ABOUT MISSY
Missy is my best friend and I couldn’t imagine sharing my life with anyone else. I felt comfortable around her instantly and we’ve been together exclusively since we met. Her passions include animals, shoes, fashion and reading. She really loves animals, especially dogs, and is a regular volunteer at a few different rescues. With her, family comes first and she would do anything for our many nieces and nephews. The girls love to come over and play dress up in Aunt Missy’s closet and play dance party on the Xbox with her. She has been labeled the favorite aunt and I know she is going to be wonderful mother.
We live in a suburb of Indianapolis in a great neighborhood full of young families. We built our house five years ago with the hope of filling it with love and children’s laughter. We have a beautiful room for a nursery and a backyard with a large deck and a privacy fence for lots of play time outside. Our neighborhood has two playgrounds, a basketball court, and walking trails throughout. There is a park with a huge splash pad less than a mile away. Our very best friends, and their littles live just down the street so we get to spend a lot of time with them They love to run around in our back yard and play with our puppies. The school system in our city is ranked one of the top in the state and will provide an excellent education.
We are very lucky to enjoy close, loving relationships with our families. Dan has a brother and two sisters and Missy has two younger brothers. We have 10 nieces and nephews aged 3 to 23 and most of our family live a short drive from us. We like to have them over often to cook out, play games or watch movies. Our younger nieces spend a lot of time with us, especially during the summer. Last summer we took them all to Cedar Point where we spent three straight days riding roller coasters and floating around the lazy river. We also spend a few weekends in the summer at Dan’s brother’s lake house, where there is an amazing firework display on the 4th of July. Christmas is our favorite holiday together, there is so much celebration and chaos and so many wonderful traditions to share. Our families are truly our biggest blessing and they are all incredibly excited to welcome a new little member. They are very supportive of our adoption plan and will love and support your child for a lifetime.
We currently share our home with two furry pups. Pooh Bear, better known as Bubba, we adopted at 8 weeks old. He will be 13 on July 27, 2017 and we absolutely adore him. He is the youngest 13-year-old dog we’ve ever known and we never know what silly noise will come out of his mouth next. He is happy if he in on someone’s lap and loves everyone he meets. Paige is our big fluffy retriever dog we adopted when she was 6. She is about 10 now and is super laid back and sweet. She fears storms, fireworks and the oven. I think the oven is more about the smoke detector than the oven itself… in our defense, the detector is super- sensitive. She loves to snuggle with any little ones who visit us. Both of our dogs love kids and will be so happy to share snuggles and love with your child.
We promise that we will love your child unconditionally. We will encourage them to always be proud of who they are and will dedicate ourselves to loving and educating them in both academics and experience. We will share beautiful places, exciting adventures and endless resources to satisfy their thirst for knowledge. It is imperative to us that children have every opportunity to get an education and find a path in life that they love. Missy is the first person in her family to go to college and it was a tough road, but one she always knew she would travel. Dan’s parents were both teachers and instilled in him a tremendous respect for learning. We are quite easy-going and we want to parent in a manner that allows a child to make choices and mistakes, while knowing that we will be there to support them and guide them when things are both good and otherwise. While we believe that structure is very important, we also want to be parents who recognize that there is not an instruction manual so we will just do the very best that we can. We look forward to having an open adoption.
