CRAIG – Matched with an Expectant Mother
Hi! I’m Craig. I can’t wait to meet you.
Before then, here are a few words to get to know me: son, brother, uncle, nephew, friend, teacher, principal….What’s missing? Father! With the support of family and friends I am ready to begin a family! I’m an elementary principal with a great circle of family and friends. I LOVE the impact that I’m making on kids every day! I enjoy spending time with friends, traveling, reading, walking my dogs, and I run every (or almost every) day! My friends and family are awesome and are ready to welcome a new member of my family.
I’m really excited to get to know you and be on this journey together!
Home is truly where my heart is. I look forward each day to coming home to unwind and relax – or to complete one of many home improvement projects. I am willing to take on any challenge! As a person, I am confident, loyal, trustworthy, and honest. I look for these qualities in those who I surround myself with and believe that I have the ability to provide a strong and positive role model to a child.
This is the beginning of my 22nd year in education – 12 years as a classroom teacher and this will be my 10th year as an elementary school principal. I have worked with a wide variety of students and families over the years and am confident that I can take the best of these experiences and apply them to a child I’m parenting. I still consider myself a student and am currently finishing my third degree and will earn an Educational Specialists Degree in School Administration in May. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy the challenges that coursework has provided to me!
I have many interests including reading, running, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. I have a true love for the ocean and make annual visits to the beach. I am a goal setter and this year have completed a 5K run each month!
I am a devoted dad to my pets – three cats (all rescues) and two dogs (Miniature Schnauzers) and spend lots of time playing with them and taking them on walks. Their unconditional love is one of the most favorite parts of my day! Each has a different and unique personality and put a smile on my face with their many antics.
MY FAMILY & FRIENDS
My family is my rock! I have a wonderful mother, Jane, who is also one of my closest friends. We share many of the same interests and have very similar personalities. I am the oldest of three children. My sister, Mary Ann, lives with her husband and children in North Carolina. Drew, my oldest nephew, has just started his freshman year in college. My niece, Ellie, is a senior focused on school and basketball. Many colleges are looking to recruit her for their programs. My brother Kyle lives only minutes from our Mom. He has a son Teagan who is an 8th grader and a daughter Briley who is in the 4th grade. My immediate family is small but we are very close to one another! I have aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Indiana and across the US. I am fortunate to have had a model of family that includes loyalty, trust, forgiveness, and lots and lots of love!
I also consider my friends as family. Some of my most treasured relationships are with those I consider my closest friends. My best friend Doug and I have been friends for over 25 years. We chat daily sharing laughs and concerns. He and his wife Julie are simply wonderful and their children call me “Uncle Craig.” Another close friend, Jina, and I are not only neighbors but also colleagues. She is one of my biggest cheerleaders and her friendship plays a significant role in my life. Jina and I have been friends for 14 years and I consider her as my sister. As well, I surround myself with people who are varied in their experiences and beliefs, as I believe it enriches my life and friendships.
Thinking about parenting a child as a single man, I am truly fortunate to have many strong female relationships. My mother, my sister, Jina, and many others that I work will provide outstanding role models for a child. As mothers, sisters, aunts, friends, and teachers they have directly or indirectly made positive impacts on countless children.
MY HOME & COMMUNITY
I have a comfortable home in Indianapolis. My home provides ample space for a nursery as well as playroom. There is also room for relatives and guests who would be willing to provide a helping hand. I have a large backyard with plenty of room for activities! My neighborhood has a playground and community pool. Many of my neighbors have young children so there are plenty of opportunities for friendships! My home is very close to the elementary school. I believe that my home is welcoming and a place where family and friends are comfortable spending time!
Spending so much time working with children has helped me reflect on what kind of parent I hope to be. My goal is to parent a child in a way that they feel safe and loved and are prepared to face a world filled with self-confidence. I believe that consistency, structure, and clear expectations are key. I’m excited to expose a child to different activities and cultures so that they can be well rounded and accepting of others. I believe that encouragement and positive reinforcement goes a long way and that discipline should be fair and appropriate. I know that parenting will not be easy, and I’m thankful for such a wonderful support system. My hope is that my family will be a role model of respect and acceptance through our interactions with others in our community.
I hope that you may find I am the right fit for you and your child. I’m an open book and what you see is what you get, and I welcome any questions that you have. It would be an honor to meet and get to know you! I am excited about the possibility of developing a relationship with you that would include pictures/updates/visits. Take care and I hope to meet you soon!
