Jeff & Becky

Hi there!  We are Jeff and Becky. We’ve been together for over 7 years and married for 5 1/2. Jeff works as a lead carpenter for a construction company, building all sorts of homes in Indiana. Jeff has also fully renovated two houses that we have lived in. Becky runs and manages a branch of a local bank, working heavily with the Hispanic population as a translator and serving people in the local area.

We both enjoy exploring the great outdoors, traveling, spending time gardening, being outside on our 3 acres of property, and we love to try new experiences. But, family is our favorite! Whether it’s spending time at home together, having a movie night with Becky’s family, or enjoying time playing games with Jeff’s family. We love visiting a new area and experiencing the local food, wildlife, and different cultures.

Like so many others out there, we have had a rocky fertility journey that included a miscarriage and several failed IUIs. But through it all, we fell back on our support group and our faith in Jesus to help us get through it and are looking forward to welcoming a little one into our family!

We met each other at church through mutual friends that thought we would be good together. Becky was running the women’s ministry, and Jeff was helping run the men’s ministry. Jeff pursued Becky for a while before she understood what was going on. This included a first date that Becky didn’t know was a first date, until she arrived! But everything quickly became clear as Jeff continued chasing Becky, and they quickly fell in love. Seven years later, and here we are!

As a couple, we are Christians, and we value our faith in God. We also value our quality time together. We would rather be together than apart, and we value having fun and making life an adventure. We both grew up in the church with Jeff’s dad doing fill-in sermons at their church and Becky’s father leading two different churches over the past 30 years. Most of our childhood memories are either at a church, with a youth group, or doing some form of church activity.

I saw her smile from across a room and knew that I had to meet her. Becky has the most infectious happiness about her. She always seems to light up every room she walks into, with an easygoing sense of fun, joy, and love that she shares with all those around her.

One thing that always amazes me about her is her ability to feel empathy for any and all around her, even when we watch a tv show or see characters in a commercial.

She has the biggest heart, and is going to be the most attentive mother. She is the most giving person I have ever met and truly is my best friend that I look forward to seeing every day. I am so grateful to the Lord for having our paths cross.

What first attracted me to Jeff was how funny and smart he is. It is important to me to laugh and enjoy life, and his witty comments and one-liners delivered at the perfect time always keep me laughing. Before my Grams passed away, she told him to never stop making me laugh, and for 7 years, he has honored her request pretty much every day.

Jeff is a servant leader. He is always serving others and leads our family and people at work through humility and service. Jeff always, always makes time for the people he loves and makes family a priority. We have a niece, a nephew, and other friends with young children, and somehow Jeff is always the child-favorite. Children love Jeff because he makes them feel valued through listening to them and playing with them. Jeff is my favorite person, and I feel the most myself and at home when I’m with him. I can’t wait to see him be the best father to a child someday.

We have been blessed with a large and varied pool of family and friends who support us on and throughout our adoption journey. On Jeff’s side of the family, he has 6 sisters and a young niece and nephew that love to play. Jeff helped raise his younger sisters, giving him a lot of hands-on experience with raising kids.

Becky’s family is smaller with only one brother, but her family is close and always ready to help when needed. Becky is also very close with her extended family and has an adopted cousin from Korea that she has grown up with and loves very much.

We both live near the area we grew up in, so we have a boatload of friends from church, school, and college who have walked alongside us, shared life with us, and helped us out as we have helped them. Becky’s parents, in particular, have been so incredibly supportive and loving in all aspects of our journey.

We love hosting for the holidays! Jeff’s family always has a large Thanksgiving dinner filled with all the regular, yummy food, but also some creative dishes as one of Jeff’s sisters is a professional chef. Jeff’s side of the family also enjoys having a St Patrick’s Day party every year, which is fun.

Becky’s family always comes over to spend all of Christmas Day with us. We do karaoke, play lots of board games, and of course, open gifts. One of our traditions is to have cinnamon rolls in the shape of a Christmas tree on Christmas morning. We also have these cute special Christmas glasses passed down from Becky’s grandma, and we have fun Christmas drinks and juices in them. For Christmas, we also go pick out and cut down our Christmas tree, make Christmas cookies, and sing carols. Those are traditions we can’t wait to share with a child!

We value spending time together, our faith, and going on adventures, and we would value the same with a child. We would love to take time daily to have fun together, learn and be curious together, take walks in nature, and we’d love to go on family trips too. We will take our child to church, where they will grow up learning about the Lord with other children. We grew up in houses that disciplined first through words and discussion and then generally either sitting in timeout or being grounded as we grew older.

We love God and take our faith seriously. We go to church and love to have a good community of strong believers and families around us. We also feel very close to God when we are in nature and because of this, we love to spend lots of time outside.

At this time, we do not have pets. But because we bought 3 acres about a year ago, we have plans to get some mini Highlander cows and possibly some goats and chickens. The cows and goats would mainly just be pets, but the chickens would also be for eggs. Since half of our acreage is wooded, we tend to get a lot of animal wildlife, such as deer, wild turkeys, and lots of birds too.

It has been our deepest desire to have a child together and a lifelong dream to grow our family, becoming parents. We have struggled for years and hoped and prayed for a baby. After we were unable to successfully carry a pregnancy, we both decided in the end that it’s more important for us to be parents than to have a biological child. Because of that, we are united and aligned in our belief to love and foster any child the Lord brings to us through adoption.

  • We promise to instill deep values of faith and self-worth into a child.
  • We promise to love them unconditionally.
  • We promise to always encourage them to learn and grow, invest in their education, and set them up to succeed in life.
  • We want them to feel loved, known, important, confident, smart, well-rounded, and ready to be and do whatever the Lord has for them to do on this earth.

We can’t imagine what a difficult decision this is for you to make, and we are so grateful that you would consider us to be part of your plan. We are committed to always honoring the child’s roots and being open about you and their story. We promise that the child will always know the respect and gratitude we have for you.
