AUSTIN AND ELLIE – PLACEMENT
We are Austin and Ellie. We have grown up and continue to build our lives in our hometown with all of our extended family just minutes away. Austin is a gym teacher/coach, and Ellie works as an X-ray technician. We enjoy playing coed softball, gardening every year, and even nights chilling on the couch and playing video games together. Most of all we simply like being outdoors. We can’t wait to add a blessing to our everyday laughter, weekend adventures, Sunday dinners at Mamaw’s, and loving family. We have been praying for you and cannot wait to meet you!
Our story began in high school when we met and began dating. We were instantly best friends and had such a deep connection even as teenagers. We dated long-distance while in college and keeping a strong relationship helped us learn to communicate effectively and made our bond stronger. Once we were married, we have been inseparable! We have been through many ups and down together and have navigated through rough waters as a team. We can’t imagine life without each others’ constant support. We have always wanted to adopt, and after Ellie encountered many medical issues and a few failed fertility treatments, we felt God was putting us right where we need to be – starting our family with adoption. We couldn’t be any more excited!
ELLIE ON AUSTIN
I haven’t done anything in my life to deserve such an amazingly giving, humble, kind-hearted, and honest husband as Austin. God knew what He was doing when He gave me Austin. Austin is not only a hard worker, but he is constantly making sure I am comfortable and taken care of at home. I honestly can’t find words to describe Austin other than saying he is my constant and has been since we were kids in high school. Austin is so caring and compassionate to everyone he encounters and I am beyond ready and excited to see Austin as a dad! He is already such an amazing puppy father, I can’t imagine the love he can provide our child! All children gravitate to him; our friends’ children and even strangers in the line at the grocery can’t help but to interact with him! All of the players on the sports teams he coaches just adore him! He is truly my other half and my best friend. Austin enjoys playing and coaching basketball, doing remodel projects on our home, being outside, and going to the movies.
AUSTIN ON ELLIE
Ellie is my best friend, my soul mate, and my partner in crime. She is such a strong individual and is constantly pulling me through the tough situations that we have faced in life. Ellie is so incredibly compassionate and nothing shows this more than her love for animals. Nothing would make her more pleased than to rescue every dog from every shelter in the country, but fortunately for me…we do not have the space for that many pups. She is not afraid to try anything and the thing that impresses me the most is that whatever she tries, she works and works until she has mastered it. This is how I know she will be an amazing mother. She will constantly be working to master the art of motherhood and will impress me every step of the way. Ellie’s personality is best shown when she is taking photos of kids. She is so joyful to finally get a smile to come across their little faces and is skilled enough to capture these moments every time. I have seen her motherhood instincts come out many times when she would coach her cheer teams while in college. She worked incredibly well with young kids who are notorious for not following directions, and getting them to complete cheer routines and ultimately win competitions. Ellie loves to take on projects. She is currently sewing hats, swaddle blankets, and headbands. On top of sewing, she loves going to the movies, playing coed softball, walking and hiking with our dogs, and cooking.
We love to try new things together. We live out in the country and are able to experience the amazing sunsets that come in the summer, the beautiful color changes that come each fall, and also take advantage of any snow each winter by building snowmen and sledding at our local park. Our child will have plenty of time to hang out inside with family, but we want to maximize the time we can spend outside fishing, hiking, and having bonfires. Our perfect date night consists of finding a new place to eat and seeing a movie, popcorn and M & M’s included! Austin actually has saved EVERY movie ticket of every movie we have seen together since high school. We love to try new places to eat and different types of food from around the world.
Family is a big thing for us. We live 2 miles away from Austin’s parents and only 15 minutes away from Ellie’s parents. We have weekly dinners with Ellie’s family and regularly visit her grandparents, who only live 10 minutes away. We vacation with both of our families and just returned from a Disney vacation with Ellie’s family! Through every trial we have faced with our infertility, our family has been there to support us and ensure that we always have what we need. For both of our parents, this will be the first grandchild as we are both the eldest sibling in our families. Needless to say, all of our parents and siblings are over-the-moon excited to have a baby come into the family.
We live in a town north of Indianapolis that is just far out enough to feel like country living, but also close enough to the city to be able to get to the store and major restaurants in 5 minutes. We call it the best of both worlds. It seems like there is some sort of festival every weekend of the year and the members of the community are such genuinely kind-hearted people. From the local donut and coffee shop, to the family-owned butcher, the small town vibe is something that we cannot wait to share with a child.
We love our house and have done some remodeling ourselves to update some rooms! We have 2 dogs, Connor and Piper. Connor is a husky mix and Piper is a greyhound mix. We have a large fenced-in yard for them to run around in and regularly take walks up and down the country roads around our house. They are great with kids! Along with our permanent resident pups, we are a part of an animal rescue group called “Perfect Paws Pet Rescue.” We primarily rescue and foster litters of puppies until they are grown enough to move on to their forever homes.
As we prepare to become parents, we know that we want to provide a safe and secure home for a child to grow up in, surround this child with an overwhelming amount of love, and expose them to as many experiences as possible. We plan on raising our child to be respectful, honest, loving, and proud. We will help immerse them into their heritage and help them grow into a successful and confident adult.
Whenever we are blessed with our first child, we have a line of family members to choose from when it comes to helping take care of the little one. Ellie’s mom is ready to retire and become a full-time grandmother while Ellie and Austin are at work. Austin’s mom is ready to fill the same role as well. Ellie is working full time, but since she works medical shifts, she only works 3 days a week. With Austin recently starting a career as a teacher, he will be off during holiday breaks and for 2 months over the summer and will be able to be home early in the evening on school nights.
We have a very strong foundation in our faith and know that this will help us navigate parenting. And just as this child will change our lives, we know you will as well. We hope that we can have a relationship with you as there is never too much love for a child. Perhaps our biggest promise as parents is to always treat our child’s birth family with respect and teach them everything we can about their culture and identity.
